Landeis /
Landesmann Family Genealogy
My knowledge of the Landeis and Landesmann branches of my
family tree is limited. I do know that
the Landeis name was reasonably well known in Vienna in the early
1900's.
Leopold Landeis' wife, Regina Steinherz, started and developed a
successful
garment business under the name: "Leoplod Landeis A.G." I am
only aware of a few descendents of the family today - in the US,
England,
France,
and Canada. In addition there are descendants of the branch
from
David Landeis. Two members of
the
Landeis Family who did accomplish something special were the
sisters,
Stephane Landeis Roussel and Gertrud Landeis Schattner.
Stephane
Roussel was the first French woman to be a foreign correspondent for
a
leading French newspaper. Gertrud Schattner was the founder
and
first president of the National
Association
of Drama Therapists' in the United States.

What other limited information I do have on the Landeis family is
shown
on the Family Chart, below.

There is also at least one Landeis family of Roman Catholic origin
in the US and Germany that can trace its history back to the
1700's.
They are not related in any way.

Feedback Requested
My intention is to maintain and improve this site over time. I
could
use some help - if any of you have any old and/or interesting
photographs
that might be appropriate for this site please let me know.
Similarly
if you have other family information, I'd be glad to hear about
it. Or even if you just have feedback on the interest
and usability of the information here, I'd
enjoy receiving e-mail at schattnerATalumDOTswarthmoreDOTedu (just
replace the "AT" with "@" and the "DOT"s with "."s). Thanks.
